Reviews about Dan's Upholstery

I brought 2 chairs here to be re-upholstered. Dan found some fabric that matched the old stuff, and completed the job in only 1 day. I am really happy with the result. The price was very reasonable, and much less than a quote I got from a place near my home up in the mountains. I highly recommend Dan's Upholstery.

This guy probably took me for a fool, and tried to pull a fast one on me! I wanted to reupholster a small sectional and a sofa. First of all his shop is absolutely filthy! You feel like having to take a shower after you leave there. Second, he told me that I would need to buy 55 yards of fabric at $45 per yard! Let me remind you that the fabric comes double folded so it is actually 110 square yards. But he probably thought I am clueless of that too. 110 square yards for a sectional and a sofa! Just to put things into perspective, a football field is 100 yards long! When I asked him to justify all that fabric for two pieces of furniture he started getting visibly frustrated! How dare I ask questions, right? Then he told me that his labor alone for a week's work is worth at least $3000. In other words, he wants to earn at least as much as a Medical Doctor! So he expected me to pay to reupholster my two pieces of furniture almost three times more than what I paid for them brand new! What a joke! If you don't want the job, just say it man, don't try to rob people into the Stone Age! GREED and RIP OFF ATTEMPT, that's all I have to say about this business. I went to a competitor less than 4 miles away, and when I told him what happened, he shook his head. Of course I didn't need 55 double folded yards, (he estimated less than 30, and of course the EXACT SAME fabric was $18 per yard, not $45. Oh, yes: and his labor cost almost three times less too. In other words a man not driven by greed. He got my business and I am very happy with his work! So my advice to you: definitely SHOP AROUND and seek a second and a third opinion! Don't be fooled by 2 good reviews over 5 years.
